Facebook homepage changes imminent
Posted on | March 7, 2009 |
As I logged into my homepage today, I saw a link announcing the “New Facebook Home Page.“
Thank goodness! That last update was a good step towards managing the glut of social information that facebook provides, but I think was a step backwards in one respect - too much scrolling. I have max updates turned on for most things (I want to know…).
The requests right across the top is a wonderful change - it’s an integral part of participating (what makes this whole merry-go-round work). and I feel that it’s current position at top right can get lost. I miss seeing it on my page, where it was before the current update.
The new layout features:
- Filters
- Stream
- Publisher
- Highlights
I do miss having one place to see everything… That chaos that was two versions ago was actually was very informative. But information management is not an easy task! Perhaps if they could tab out home and profile with dynamic, no-refresh programming instead of separate pages, it would be better for me. The unfortunate side-effect of that would be loading twice as much content for all of their users. BANDWIDTH = OUCH!
Anyhoo… Look forward to seeing it flip over. A toast to progress. Link again.
