Photography: Times Square Sliced in 360 Degrees
Posted on | October 25, 2008 |
I was hanging with photo and industry friends last night and one asked me, “how the hell do you take those panoramics you made on the road trip? “Well,” I replied, ” I stand there with camera vertical, shoot a photo, turn a little and repeat until I have covered the area I want to cover. Then I use Photoshop to stitch ‘em.”
“I want to see this,” he said. So we went to Times Square. I only had a 20mm lens and I usually use 50-90mm (no distortion). What the hell,” I thought. Let’s see how this works out anyway.
So… it’s amazing. I turned off blending and the slices are wonderful. Slices of time, moments - time captured in sequence in one photograph. Funny how that;s exactly what I was talking to this very friend about earlier regarding his own work. I didn’t intend this - it’s on of those happy coincidences.
