I am never afraid to click on any link on La Blogotheuqe’s website or emails. Every single one of them ends up in visual joy, aural delight and a fantastic feeling of euphoria brought on by KNOWING that art is alive and well in this world.

Yesterday evening I got an email featuring Patrick Watson, a name I had not heard before. Prepare yourself for the melt. The first song, Slip Into Your Skin, sent me someplace so magical and wonderful. An intimate place where that elusive goal of all the loving reachings stop and say, “This is what it was all for.”

I admit openly that I opened up Audio Hijack and ripped me an MP3 of Slip Into Your Skin for personal use. Not on Amazon MP3s, so I had to go to iTunes to purchase the album. I then proceeded to begin my first Cut Paper piece with the satisfying passion I had earlier this year - each cut a discovery, the progression a peaceful, deep and happy journey. It’s not done yet, but as I click publish on this post, I will return to it and descend into that enveloping, womblike feeling with a smile on my face.

When I took a break from the art, I wrote lyrics and recorded a rough of a song, too. The result (which I am not ready to share, sorry) was put into a two-song playlist - Patrick Watson’s and mine - and has played on repeat morning through afternoon. What an amazing day.

Thank you, La Blogotheque and Patrick Watson.

EDIT: And big thanks to Antoine Doyen, who photographed the session with grace and sensitivity. Visit his website to see the rest of his work. My goof, and apologies, go to Antoine for rushing to publish my glowing review without asking permission to use his image here and neglecting to link to his website.

    Hi,

I’m the author of the picture above.

This photograph has “all right reserved”. I won’t ask you to remove it from a blog, but I wanted to let you know I would have appreciated you asked me first, though, as well as putting a link to my website.

Telling people you want to use their pictures doesn’t hurt :)

    Take care.

Antoine - you are so right. I sent you a personal email with apologies and edits are noted above. I was so emotionally blown away by the performance that I made a gross error on your part.
