Mayuko Fujino’s Cut Paper art at Brooklyn Artists Gym

Posted on | March 29, 2009 |

I had the opportunity to see fellow cut paper artist and Tokyo-native Mayuko Fujino’s work in person at an opening last night. The show is going on now at Brooklyn Artists Gym (BAG) March 20 - April 2nd.

Here is Mayuko and her mom in front of her work (on right):

Mayuko’s website is PlanetPlatonic.org - drop by and see the scope and wonder of her vision. It’s playful at times, serious at others and brilliantly-executed.

I stopped for a moment to speak with Peter Wallace, who runs BAG. A truly pleasant guy, he gave me the cook’s tour:

BAG is available for rent by artists for $200 a month. What do you get? Your own locker and access anytime, as much as you want, to creative space. It’s a good deal. There are some more private space available, in addition, for those who want to leave their materials set up.

Here are some more photos from the opening.

So take a moment to drop by BAG and see Mayuko’s work. She came all the way from Tokyo!
